New Releases of Wente in Livermore Wine Country, California

Paula Gaston

Wente has long been one of our favorite wineries close to us. It is in the Livermore Valley, about half an hour drive from us. It feels amazing to drive over to Livermore from the city. You will pass some hills, fields, cows, horses and of course vineyards. It's like going to the country side and I love it!

We were invited to a release party for new Wente wines last weekend. We participated in one event like this before. It was nice to have a chance to try out all the new wines which were paired with some delicious food. When we walked in we got a glass of wine and a menu which we followedso as to taste the wines in correct order. The big, dark wine cellar is usually set as a tasting room for this event and there was a big snack and fruit table in the middle of the room. There was also a live band keeping us entertained.

This time we fell in love with Small Lot Pinot Noir Rose right at the beginning of the party. It was fresh and can be drank even without food. I think we already felt like spring because we also swapped out of our wine club wines for this treat. For a while now Wente has been releasing a Small Lot Artist -series where the label of the bottle is painted by a local artist. Small Lot Artist Series Serenity, which was only released to wine club members at this time, had this beautiful painting of vineyards on it. We also met the artist and saw the painting. The last wine we tasted was from a barrel and therefore a wine to be released sometime in the future. My husband liked this wine a lot but the wine was not ready to my taste yet.

Once again we had some nice times at Wente!
